Schedule
There will be Space-focused book displays at the entrance of UTM Library for the duration of Science Literacy Week from 16-20 September 2019.
Live demos and displays will be taking place in front of the entrance to the Library daily!
Monday 16 September
J. Tuzo Wilson Club 11:30-3pm
The club will be displaying various meteorites at the table and explaining the differences between different types of meteorites and how they were used to determine the age of the earth.
There will also be a replica of the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Device that NASA used to determine the seismicity of the moon. This device can be used to see geologic features underneath the surface of planets/moons, and a similar, more modern device is going to be used to study Mars in the coming years.
Let's Talk Science 1-3pm
Check out one of the many Let's Talk Science demos, featuring: Our Solar System, Virtual Reality, Comet Cratering, Space Mazes, Ocean Food Webs, Oil Spill Challenge, Float your Boat, Our Oceans, and Water Wiz Quiz

Alfie the axolotl: Come on down and say hi to Alfie, our axolotl! She is fascinating- not only is she adorable, but she's also unique as a research organism for both stem cell and evolutionary biologists!
Oil Spoil: What happens to birds when they encounter oil spills in the ocean? Visit our demo to learn about oil spills and ocean pollution.
Guess the gummy fish: Can you guess how many fish are in our jar? Enter a number to win! And while you're at it, learn about the effects that overfishing has caused on marine ecosystems.
See the Ocean: Did you know that more than 90% of the world's oceanic diversity is yet to be discovered? Join us as we try to see the ocean live!
