Sarah and Christopher, founders of Alimentari Italian Grocery, sat down with us to speak about their newly updated business endeavors and what the industry is like in Toronto. What was once their wholesale retail store, turned to a full retail store with an in-house restaurant in 2017. Recipes came from Christopher’s experience shopping in Italy as a child as his father was a historian and professor. The foundations of Christopher’s cooking knowledge come from shopping for the family. The name of the business comes directly from its ability to tell visitors it is an Italian grocer. They also speak about updating industry standards due to the ever changing needs of the Torontonian consumer.
