After immigrating from Abruzzo, a region of Southern Italy, in 2014, Michele Pelligrini sits down to discuss how his business came to be, and why he believes it has progressed as well as it has since its opening. The founder, Michele, began his Canadian culinary journey in the back of house of a Brazilian steakhouse where he eventually proved his work ethic, leading to the opening of Giro D’Italia. Translating to, “Tour of Italy,” Pelligrini’s restaurant seeks to take their customers on a culinary journey between various regions of Italy, allowing for a new immersive and unique experience every month. Pelligrini speaks of his mission to serve the most authentic Italian cuisine, despite its approval in North America. While at first this mission did not directly serve him well, Giro D’Italia is now one of the most well-known establishments in York region, welcoming people from around the GTHA to experience 1, 2, 3 different regions, depending on how many regions you plan to visit during the year!
