850 Degrees Pizzeria, located in Etobicoke, was founded by Chris Beard and his aunt (also his business partner), and opened on January 27th, 2014. Beard was born and raised in Ireland and lived in Salerno, has Italian family (Neapolitan uncle), and lived in Italy for about a year during his teenage years. He arrived in Canada in the early 2000s with his wife and son, and came up with the business name, “850 Degrees Pizzeria”, with “850” referring to the temperature required to cook the perfect pizza. He states his mission hasn't changed throughout the years: providing an inviting and comfortable environment for the customer and preserving quintessential Italian family values. The restaurant’s menu items such as the Neapolitan style pizza, provide an authentic Italian experience with locally (Canadian sourced) ingredients. They were the first in their neighborhood to serve Neapolitan style pizza, and since then, over the years, their menu options have increased, adding new pastas, pizzas and vegetarian/vegan options to their menu.
